Mabel Long Hodnett, 88, of 1210 Larmar St., Danville, VA, died, Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at the Piney Forest Health Care Center.
Born October 5, 1924 in Blanch, NC, she was the daughter of the late Charles Henry and Etta Johnson Long. She was married to Charlie Hodnett, who survives.
She was the last survivor of her generation.
In addition to her husband survivors include one daughter, Cheryl Hodnett Cephas of Upper Marlboro, MD; three sons, Gary Hodnett (Deborah) of Clinton, MD, Reginald Hodnett (Wendy) of Triangle, VA and William Love (Patricia) of Ft. Washington, MD and a host of other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by nine sisters, Azile Pasqual, Alma Long, Mattie Solomon, Virginia Long, Lois Ina Howard, Eunice Merial Ransom, Mauline Wharton, Leovia Henry and Delores Williams and three brothers, Alvin Long, Linwood Palmer Long and Odell Long.
The family will receive friends at the residence. Family visitation will be held on Sunday, February 10, 2013 from 6-7 PM at Fisher & Watkins Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, February 11, 2013 at 11 AM from River Zion Missionary Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens.
