Elder Thomas R. Brooks, 59, of 170 North Davis Dr., Danville, Virginia died Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at Danville Regional Medical Center. Born November 23, 1951, in Danville, VA, he was the son of the late Ronsworth A. Brooks and the late Barbara Farmer Brooks. He was married to Debra Gayle Chandler Brooks, who survives.
He was the founder of Evangel Temple United Holy Church, Danville, Virginia where he served as pastor for twenty-two years and an employee of Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, Inc. for over thirty-one years.He was a devoted employee of Fisher and Watkins Funeral Home where he served as Chaplin for twenty-five years.
In addition to his wife of the residence, survivors include four sons, Thomas Brooks, Jr., Tremaine Brooks, Theomone Brooks, and Travis (Nannette) Brooks all of Danville, VA; one sister, Deborah Gray of Danville, VA; two brothers, Michael Brooks and Kenneth Brooks, both of Danville, VA; nine grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Larry Brooks and Timothy Brooks.
The family will receive friends at the residence. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at 12:00 Noon at Loyal Baptist Church with Bishop Hildred Perry officiating. Interment will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens. Family visitation will be Monday, June 20, 2011 from 6PM to 8PM at Fisher and Watkins Funeral Home.
